This morning we watched as our oldest son, Matthew was baptized.

This day ranks among one of the greatest days of my life!

He accepted Christ as his Savior a number of years ago, but never felt the tug to be publicly baptized until now. I'd mention it to him here and there, but ultimately, it had to be when he felt the tug from the Lord.

Praise You, Father!

I love them so much!

Matthew's bestest lifelong friends!

The greatest feeling in all the world, as a parent is to know that beyond the shadow of a doubt, your child will one day be in Heaven with Jesus!

To know that his future is secure.

To know that nothing can separate him from the love of God.

To know that God has a good plan for him.

I have been an epic failure as a mother time and time again. Despite my humanness, God used me to love and guide our kids....He used me to introduce them to Him.

Isn't that our greatest calling as parents?

To make sure our kids meet Jesus?

To make sure their future is secure?

To teach them what Jesus did for them?

To teach them the Love of Jesus?

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.  ~ Deuteronomy 6:6-7

God, forgive me for not being diligent in teaching my children Your ways. Thank you for amplifying what I have taught them and planting it in their hearts.

In conversation with my Uncle Freddy years ago, he said.....would you want to stand in front of the Lord and answer Him for not teaching your children about Him? Would you want to be the reason your child doesn't go to Heaven?

That punched me in the gut.

shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly;  not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. ~1 Peter 5:2-3

Being examples to the flock.....just be an example to your child, shine His Light. No matter the age of your children, they need to hear you talk about Jesus and lead by example. They need your wise counsel.

Friend - being a parent is hard work....can I encourage you today to hang on and to lean on God. Don't dwell on the small stuff. Pour into your kids! Teach them about Jesus!!

Do you want to be the reason your child doesn't go to Heaven?

Behold, children are a heritage and gift from the Lord ~ Psalm 127:3

A heritage and a gift.....what will you do with the gift God has given you?
